Manager on Duty- Night Shift
Job Summary:
The MOD oversees daily business operations by making sure all business aspects of the Flora-Bama are functioning efficiently to ensure a welcoming environment for all. By keeping a “pulse” on the Flora-Bama, the MOD will be able to provide a fun, comfortable, and exciting time for all guests. The MOD should be familiar with all company policies, procedures, events, menus, pricing, schedules, and any other daily activities with the capability of successfully managing these facets of the business. The following tasks are required for all MODs to ensure successful business operations for the Flora-Bama.
- Constant monitoring of all cost centers including bars, food operations, entertainment, doors, merchandising activities, as well as outside vendors
- Providing all Bartenders, Waitresses, and Customer Service team members the proper resources to successfully complete their job; including, but not limited to, change runs, cash pickups, ensuring sufficient manpower, and even contributing to everyday workflows when needed
- Making sound business decisions that positively reflect on the entire organization in regards to staff management and guest relations
- Ensuring all team members in all departments are fully aware of the Flora-Bama service standards and are operating at such a level to ensure the well-being of our guests
- Effecting the attitude and impressions of both staff members and guests by setting the tone and using professional judgment and reserve while practicing tolerance and patience
- Full utilization and completion of all checklists for the MOD position. Consistent inspection and verification of all hourly employee checklists. These checklists include the opening, closing, mid-shift, nighttime, daily par, cleaning, host, and MOD checklist
- Providing guidance and backup to our team members when faced with upset guests or conflict that might involve internal de-escalation or even outside law enforcement
- Developing a relationship with your co-managers to ensure efficient daily operations and smooth transitions between all shifts
- Creation and implementation of new business activities to help drive business and increase revenue at the Flora-Bama
- Overseeing the documentation for all medical or non-medical employee-related incident reporting Ensuring all documentation is properly completed and provided to the HR team

- Actively engaged in performance management and training for hourly team members to ensure they execute their job at the appropriate level and fulfill all required tasks for their position.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and manage multiple processes, employees, programs, and procedures simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines
- Ability to effectively communicate with guests, peers, management, and ownership
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn
- The ability to work successfully in a high-energy, fast-paced, rapidly changing environment is necessary
- Constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing up to 8 consecutive hours, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders, and the ability to lift 50+ pounds
- Intermediate computer skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
- Must be available to work weekends and Holidays
- Be receptive to exposure to outside elements including heat and/or humidity, cold temperatures, wet conditions, and prolonged standing/walking
Leadership & Operations
Minimum 1 year of shift-lead or management experience in a high-volume bar, restaurant, or live-entertainment venue.
Proven ability to lead 20–50 staff members across multiple bars, service areas, and departments.
Strong decision-making skills under pressure, especially during peak nights and large-event operations.
Ability to manage all closing duties, including bar closeouts, server reports, incident logs, and building walk-throughs.
Technical Knowledge
Competent in SpotOn POS or similar systems, including bar reports, server sales, refunds, comps, voids, and nightly financial review.
Familiarity with RSP (Restaurant Systems Pro) or similar labor/operations platforms for templates, labor allotment, and nightly labor management.
Ability to monitor crowd flow, door operations, occupancy, security zones, and bar pacing.
Knowledge of emergency procedures, incident reporting, and safety expectations.
Problem-Solving & Judgment
Ability to make the call when adjustments are needed (bar closures, staff redeployment, schedule changes).
Calm under pressure when dealing with intoxicated guests, large lines, and unexpected operational issues.
Strong sense of accountability and integrity — treats the building and staff as if they were their own.
Certifications
Must hold (or obtain within 30 days):
Responsible Vendor (RV) certification
RCS alcohol safety training
CPR/First Aid preferred but not required
